Madame Dakota and Her Crystal Ball...

So apparently Dakota is psychic. According to her at least. She has many predictions about this new baby. And they are firm.

First of all, she thinks it's a girl. I mean, not like, "My guess is a girl" type of thing. I mean she is adamant. Everyday she talks about the baby, "We could buy her this..." "I could wrap her up..." "We could take her there..." Davey and I both tell her everytime, in an excited tone, "Yah, or it could be a boy!!" She just looks at us like, "Whatever" and goes on with her story. Haha! I'm pretty amused by it and think it's kind of cute. She has said though on three different occasions that she would be happy no matter what. Not sure how much I can believe that coming from a 4 year old, but I guess we'll see!

So her first prediction is girl. Her second prediction is what "she" will look like. We were stopped at the gas station the other day and I was standing by her window just talking to her and Levi and I asked her, "Koty, what color hair do you think the baby will have? Do you think it will be black like daddies or blond like yours and Levi's and mommies?" She said (her words exactly), "Well, I think she'll have black hair when she comes out. But then when she gets older like me, she'll have hair like mine." Okay, now that just creeped me out right there because that is exactly how she was. Full head of black hair when she was born then it all fell out and grew in again three times until it was the color it is now.

Aside from her predictions, she also has names for the baby already. And this time, she actually conceded that it could possibly be a boy and gave him a name also...

For a girl:
Flower Waterfall

For a boy:
Plant Waterfall

These change pretty much weekly. So I'm interested to see what else she comes up with.

Speaking of boy or girl, Davey really wants to find out the sex of the baby. This has been something I've gone back and forth on for a while. It makes it really hard to resist when your spouse wants to know! It would be so easy to go get an ultrasound and find out. HOWEVER...I have decided to be my usual stubborn self and resist the temptation!! I just can't give up that awesome feeling of finding out when the baby is close in my arms looking up at me. It's an irreplaceable feeling to me. Sometimes I wonder if it was only that awesome when Levi was born because he was a boy. He was something new and different for us and in that moment we realized we had "one of each" and it was that fact that brought all that joy. Then I realize everytime, "No. It was awesome because it was awesome. Period." So, no finding out for us. You all will just have to wait! That means you too Dave ;)

Oh, surprisingly enough, the only other person who is with me on the waiting bit, is Dakota. A few weeks ago when I was seriously considering finding out, I thought I would ask her (thinking she would totally say, "Find out!", then I could use her as my scapegoat and say, "Even Dakota wanted to find out!") but to my total surprise she said she wanted us to wait. I even asked her again a few days later, and she still said "wait". That was all the confirmation I needed.

As for Davey and I, of course it's the run-of-the-mill "We don't care either way". And we truly don't. Somebody is going to end up getting a same-sex sibling and that rocks! For me personally, I see it both ways. On one hand, I would love for Dakota to get a sister. Siblings are special no matter what, but there is just something about sisterhood that you almost can't do without. I would really be over-the-moon for her. But, on the other hand, there is a huge advantage to it being a boy. He and Levi would be so close in age, only 2.5 years apart. They would most likely have all the same friends, like the same things at the same time and be really close. And I would love to have another son. For a mommy, there is something exceptionally special about her bond with her baby boy. But, it is what it is. And it is exactly what God has planned for us and carefully set aside just for our family. And I can't wait for that day when we finally get to find out! Such a blessing.

So on that note, I decided that I would add another gender prediction poll to the blog. You all were right on the money last time with Levi, so I thought it would be interesting to see if you could pull it off again!

The poll closes on February 1, 2011. Happy voting!

I love Dakota: "I could wrap her up". Too cute.

I'm going with girl on this go round.

And she surely has to be her mother's hippie daughter with a name like Flower Waterfall. Haha.

And WHERE did you get that beautiful headband? I need to find one for little G.

Those pics are perfect, by the way.

I am with Dakota 100%...and I think you should let her name her...I mean at least the middle name ;) How often do you use your middle name anyhow?!?! Waterfall is beautiful !;)

@ Kristin Jo: The headband is from a shop called Avy's Boutique on etsy...

http://www.etsy.com/shop/AvysBoutique

The owner's super nice and she always runs sales.

What's in Dakota's hair is actually two differnt clips, the flower is from Avy's Boutique but the feather thingy is from some teeny-bopper shop in the mall. "Icing" I think.

@ Tamara: The funny thing is that Dakota's middle name is Sky. So then we would have a Sky and a Waterfall! Haha...no wonder she comes up with names like that...it's programmed in her genes.

A secret...we already have a name for the baby. Ssshhhhhh ;)

I think Dakota is right too! Your pregnancy this time seems much more similar to hers than Levi's (been a reader for a loong time!).

As for me, I think mine is another boy, but unlike you I can't stand the suspense and am going to find out in a few weeks! :)

Solomon wanted Shiloh's name to be Skelaton Bullseye...and then at one point he wanted ehr name to be Hair. Sweet huh...

Im still decided what I think it is. What does the chinese lunar calendar say? And are you sharing he baby names????? I wanna know!!!!! :)

Corin said...

@ Sarah: Wow, that is a long time! You saying that reminded me that I've been blogging since before I got pregnant with Dakota. Then I thought, "Wow, I had things to talk about before I had kids?" Haha.

@ Amber: Ha! Solomon is hilarious! I think Skelaton Bullseye is just lovely ;)

Babies name is a seeeecret!!! Muahahahaha! It's very gender specific. So if it comes out the opposite sex, we're going to have to do some major scrammbling to find another name!!

i know what the name is i know what the name is ;)- (i think)
the middle name should be waterfall though. nobody uses their middle name anyway and dakota would be so excited.

well, i think it's a boy. From the way you're carrying (though you hardly even look pregnant) it'd appear to be a boy. More point than at the sides...
But who knows?...Only Him up there! and they guy/gal that did your sonogram (or will do your sonogram)
Just wanted to say that these photos are truly beautiful. You have always inspired me as a photographer and i admire you and your work and your family values. LOVE LOVE LOVE you!
